Fantasy Football: Math Champions League
Are you ready for some football?! We hope so. The Bridgeview Fantasy Football season is upon us and we want you to be ready for the upcoming trials and tribulations of our Math Champions League. Expect a combination of NFL football and advanced mathematical curriculum that will both challenge and entertain you. Girls and boys with any amount of mathematical ability (or none at all!) and football knowledge (or none at all!) are welcome. Everyone can have fun!
If you decide to participate you will be required to attend weekly meetings during Tuesday lunch period. During that lunch period, each player will review statistics from the weekend’s NFL games and use mathematical skills to compute a weekly score. Expect to do some heavy lifting with fractions, including: improper fractions, addition, subtraction and multiplication of fractions and fraction reduction. Not only will you have fun, but you’ll become a fraction master in the process.
Now that we have drafted our teams there are some important things to keep in mind:
Finally, keep in mind that students must keep up with their homework and studies to continue to compete in the season. Another important thing to note about the Math Champions League is that everything is done outside of regular class time.
Let’s have an awesome season!
